A part of the American Trails Advancing Trails Webinar Series, this is the first in a series of three webinars on Trail Maintenance Management brought to you by Chinook Associates, LLC and American Trails. If you already have a Trail Maintenance Management Plan, the first webinar, “Introduction to Trail Maintenance Management Planning,” will present some ideas on how you might improve it. If you are considering developing a one, you will get information to consider so you can make good decisions about how you might best move forward with the development of your plan.
Millions of dollars annually are devoted to trail development across the country. Fundamental to the sustainability of this investment in a trail system is a Trail Maintenance Management Program. Participants in this workshop will be provided with an introduction of the process to create a Trail Maintenance Management Plan that will include: Establishing Management Objectives, Creating a Trail Inventory, Managing Information, and Program Implementation Considerations.
The presenter, Kim Frederick, Principal of Chinook Associates, LLC, has over 20 years experience conducting trail skills workshops. Since 1983, Kim has managed the trail system for Jefferson County Open Space in the foothills west of Denver. He is also a founding member of the Colorado Outdoor Training Initiative (COTI). Read Kim’s article: “Training partnership leverages Department of Labor funding.”
